Enhancing Wesbrook Village’s Public Realm

Neighbourhoods are living, breathing places that consistently need new infrastructure to support growing populations and meet the needs of residents and visitors.

An accessibility improvement project is underway in Wesbrook Village as part of UBC Properties Trust’s ongoing commitment to enhancing community public realm spaces.

The existing movator connecting street level to the underground parkade outside Save On Foods will be removed and replaced with a new elevator and staircase. The project will also include a new commercial retail unit on the corner of Shrum Lane & Berton Avenue.

Once complete, these improvements will provide safer, more reliable access between the parkade and street level, while also creating space for a new neighbourhood business to add value to the community. UBC Properties Trust seeks opportunities like these to ensure the neighbourhood remains a vibrant place for years to come.

Temporary weekday road closures along Shrum Lane from 7:30am – 5:00pm are in place for the duration of the project. Currently, all sidewalks in the area remain open. From December to March, the sidewalk on Berton Avenue, across the street from Save On Foods, will be closed. Businesses will remain accessible, and we encourage everyone to continue supporting local retailers and restaurants during this time.

Access between the parkade and street level will be available via the Wesbrook Professional Centre elevator and staircase entrance located on the parking lot side of the building. Please note that shopping carts are not permitted on the vehicle ramps; please use the elevator.

The work is expected to be completed by late summer 2026. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we enhance accessibility in Wesbrook Village.
