Wesbrook eagles’ nest timeline

At the request of the Ministry of Forests, Diamond Head Consulting and UBC Properties Trust assessed the possibility of removing the protective cone from the nest this year, one year ahead of the permit end date.

Summertime is when eagles have migrated north, and with construction activity in the area currently being low, September is the only opportunity to safely remove the cone before the upcoming nesting season. Following this review of current and planned construction activity, the decision was made to proceed with cone removal on September 18, 2025.

A Qualified Environmental Professional at Diamond Head Consulting will continue to monitor the nest closely as future construction occurs in the area. All development in Wesbrook Place remains subject to the Protected Species Management Plan (2017) to ensure compliance with provincial regulations and the protection of critical habitat features.
