Sumac House
In 2001, UBC Properties Trust constructed Phase 1 (Azalea House & Sumac House) of faculty & staff rental housing in mid-campus.
Located in the neighbourhood of Hawthorn Place, at the corner of West Mall and Thunderbird Boulevard, the four-storey wood-framed Sumac House has 42 rental homes that are located in close proximity to the academic core of UBC. Apartments are 1- and 2-bedroom layouts, and ground floor cityhomes are 2-storey homes with their own entrance, 2 bedrooms and a den. The third and fourth floor are condos. Every apartment has an outdoor space – either a balcony or a partially-enclosed patio.
