The Commons
The Commons at UBC Okanagan is a multipurpose addition to the existing UBC Okanagan Library Building addressing the critical need for student collaboration, learning, and innovation spaces.
It includes a 400-seat classroom, more than 350 new study and collaborative areas, a graduate student commons and a café. It also contains a digital technology centre, the Visualization and Emerging Media Studio, equipped with state-of-the-art immersive media technologies including Canada’s highest-resolution 3D VR-ready video wall. The Sawchuk Family Theatre includes a 25-30 person capacity with a high-resolution video wall experience. Students contributed nearly $10 million to the project.
